Default Cold Ait Intake Using factory air box for $40

I made a cold air intake out of the factory box and a filter from a local parts store. Works great.....looks and works just as good as the aftermarket kits.

I think I spent $40 total and about an hour fabing in up.

Anyone interested in the details and some pics?

Here you can see the setup. By removing the stock air box. I was able to cut off the top and sides leaving a wall in the back to block the heat from the radiator.

I utilized the stock mounts on the air box to mount it to the Jeep. I bought the air filter and tube from a local parts store. I used two screws to secure the tube to the old stock box.

All told it took about an hour to make. Looks pretty clean and works great!

Good idea...disapponting outcome. The filter looks smaller than the factory, and without any sort of dam, you're asking for a hydrolock.

Dry climate, may work out, but I'd rather stick with opening the top of the factory box and using pipe insulation.
