jerry can mounting methods????
picked up an old WW2 jerry can in mint shape, and i wanna mount it to my jk. theres the thing, i dont have a tire carrier and i dont have a cargo carrier on my jeep to keep it. where is another place i can put it? ive seen people mount there to the hinge of the tail gate some how! any ideas or pics out there guys? gimme a hand
also another issue i jus ran into, opened it up and ot REAKS of diesel fuel....... is there a method of cleaning it so that i can use it for the premium gasoline that i always use??? or is this can toast now

if you go to any type of auto parts store or motorcycle shop there is a metal gas tank cleaner kit the refreshes and cleans tanks on motorcycles i guess u can use that
Bolt on hitches for these JK's are very affordable & don't hurt your angle of departure much. Also, when I'm packin cans I'm usually doing more trail rides that don't require sliding off of rocks.
As far as the diesel smell in your surplus cans. Frankly, I don't care for the smell of unleaded either. Just fill er up, put the cap on & quit smelling it.

I think it mounts in the hitch receiver. Could be wrong though. I'm curious about how the tailgate opens too. I have a hitch mounted rack but my tire hits it when I try to open the tailgate, so I have to completely remove it to get into the back of the jeep. Sort of a hassle, but it has been handy to have.
