I have an LS3 (actually an L92 with LS3 intake) with the 6L80E that I am close to firing up in my JK. The external dimensions are the same as the LS7 and this should be 500hp with the mods it has (cam, port work and coating, electric water pump, headers, tuning). I need to do a thread on the build I guess.
lol YES asap
You cannot imagine (being a hardcore GM fan) how this thread interests me. I am moderately satisfied with the the Hemi swap in my JK but the overall power output is disappointing during a normal driving cycle. I am not really sure if this is the lack of an ideal gearing/powerband issue, as compared to GM powertrains, or just an improper mismatch of Mopar powertrain to a JK.
Having at my disposal a GMC Duramax, C6 ZO6 and other well-powered GM's in the past few years (as well as GMC Yukon/truck vehicles), I can tell you that it is very obvious how big the power difference is (between a Mopar and a GM) when it comes to real everyday driving cycles and situations. I have seen the difference between Mopar and GM swaps when this is done to older model Jeeps (YJ and TJ) in my experience and extended use in friend's vehicles. The difference is very noticeable. Maybe it's my imagination, but I don't think so. I would like to hear from other Jeep fans that have experienced this difference.

So if a guy bought a used 5.3 vortec and 4l60e out of a truck, bought a painless brand wiring harness for the whole setup, and an adapter to the np241, you could be thousands ahead of a hemi swap and have as much power and more low rpm grunt, not high revving hemi power?
I know around here i can get a mid mileage (50-100k mile) 5.3 with 4l60e and ecm all in one shabang for $1400 easily. I know that its more involved than how i stated it earlier. You have to hook up power steering, cooling, fuel lines and all that, and lots more. But i am envisioning the entire swap staying in the $3-4k range maybe as much as 5 tops, but hell.... That much money just gets you the kit for a hemi, minus engine and tranny. But the hemi is almost plug and play. But when you bank account doesnt runneth over with blessings, all the sudden, a 5.3 doesnt look too bad at all.
