Default Front Drive Shaft problem

I've been running the stock drive shafts since I got my lift and tires.
I was testing my 4WD after a recent wheeling trip and I hear this terrible sound.
I think it's time for a new drive shaft?

It sound's like something is grinding or something? I looked at it and greased it up but it still sounds terrible.

sounds like the bearings in your CV joint have finally gone bad. definitely time for a new shaft.

Same thing happened to mine, but my boot was torn and shredded to hell. Time for a new one! I picked up a Tom Woods but have heard good things about JE Reel also.

I checked out the boot and it was fine on the outside.

Is it possible that I got sand and water in the boot?
If so I can try and take the boot off and clean it up and re grease the inside?

i think you can do what ever you want. but you asked for advice and advice you got. replace the sucker asap or pull it out before it causes you a real problem when it breaks at 70 mph on the freeway (it spins even in 2 wheel drive). coast is a good shaft for about 400 bucks or so as well as woods, or many others. you wouldn't want to fix it you will want to replace it with out a doubt. a bad design for offroad to begin with.

trust me, the sound you're hearing are the bearings going bad. attempting to re-grease the inside WILL NOT fix broken bearings.

Thanks for all the advice and input.
Guess I'll be ordering a new drive shaft sometime soon.
