Default Spidertrax / Removal

I'm going to install some Spidertrax wheel spacers and I was curious as to how hard they are to remove? Any tips on removing them for brake jobs, etc...

I just replaced my rear brake pads, the rotors were in decent shape so i put off replacing them because i didnt want to deal with removing the spacers. The spidertrax come with locktite (red) liquid. Its gonna be a bitch to remove them in my opinion.

when i took them off it took a 5 foot tube around a pry bar and it ended up twisting one of my studs off... it was a bitch so i would recommend not using the red and going down to like blue or another one

The red loctite will release if you heat them up. I'm not sure at what temperature, but i've used a propane torch before (because that's all i had). It takes a bit of time to get the part hot, but should work for you.

Found this info on the Spidertrax website: Even though red thread locker is considered permanent, grade 8 studs of 1/2” diameter and larger can be broke loose without damage to the nut or the stud. To reinstall make sure you clean the threads well, reapply thread locker, and torque the lug nuts to the correct torque listed for your application.

I removed mine after they had been on about 4 months. Had to use a 24" breaker bar. Hardest part was getting the hub centric spidertrax spacer to come loose fron the hub. Some kind of bond between dissimiliar metals. 1 came right of-the others had to be persuaded with a hammer and block of wood.

No problem with my old spidertrax spacers. Came right off, even with red loctite. Just heat them up.

I'm not sure how much loktite some people are using, but I use enough to wrap about three to four threads worth that's all and I have never had an issue removing the nuts and they will never back out. No heat needed, maybe a standard breaker bar on occasion, but certainly not outrageous.
