Aftermarket step up
And please make a gas can carrier that mounts to the tailgate hinge or spare tire that fits through the hole in the stock tire!
Smitty built has the i-rack but it doesn't fit through the center of the stock wheel.
A lot of us want to carry a gas can without having to buy a swing out carrier.

Maybe I am not understanding this?
People are going to aftermarket bumpers/carriers because the stock tailgate and hinges are weak, but you want to add a full gas can also? If the stock setup can't support a spare tire without failing, how will it support a spare and a full gas can?
Just go with an OR-Fab setup...

Not true. I had a springtail rack with an axe mounted on the inside and a gas can mounted with the trail master bracket and a heavy steel wheel on the outside, all on the stock tail gate for 30K miles... and my tail gate is perfect.
Now that I have gone back to stock wheels that gas can mount no longer fits through the center hole on the stock wheel.

Turned my Rampage Hi-Lift bracket (which I didn't like at all) into a jerry can holder. So far I have used it full of gas and gone off-road a bunch of times and is holding pretty good (including the gate
).

Sorry man, I didn't do a write up
but basically this is the material you need:
- Rampage hi-lift mount (this is probably not the cheapest way of doing it but like I mentioned before, I bought it for my hi-lift but after running it for a couple of months I really didn't like all the extra rattling and not being able to park the jeep inside the garage).
- Jerry can holder. Generic I got at 4wheel parts.
- Jerry can. 5 gallon from 4wheel parts.
- 2 3/8" or 1/2" hex screws (can't remember which ones), nuts and washers. Use these to hold the jerry can mount into the rampage base.
All I did was:
- Install the rampage bottom bracket.
- Drill two 3/8" or 1/2" holes on the bottom of the jerry can holder. Make sure you make the holes so they align with the openings of the rampage bracket.
- Attach the jerry can holder to the rampage bracket, use a bunch of washers to close the gap (you can see it in the pics I posted on the other thread) between the bracket and the jerry can holder.
- Add some rubber inserts between the jerry can holder and the jerry can as needed to prevent rattling.
- Strap with a ratchet strap
- You are done
