Default Questions about beadlocks??

Looking at different wheel options right now. I like the spyderlock wheels and was wondering if there is any safety issue for highway use. Are you still able to have the tire balanced? Those running spyderlocks, How do you like them?

I would imagine it's like normal driving? Same safety? And I'm pretty sure you can have them balanced. Look at ATXs new beadlocks, they look similar to spyderlocks

No. Im wondering what could happen. There are probably 24 bolts around the ring. How bad about maintenance would have have to be for enough bolts to get loose and loose air? Surely the wheel will not come to pieces before you loose the air. I dont maintain mine as much as i should, and my walker evans have been fine. My maintenance consists of trying to turn each bolt by hand, if dont turn, i call it good.

You should also check your state laws.
Restrictions may not specifically mention beadlocks, but they might say something about multipiece wheels.

love my spyderlocks. you must live with the fact that you will be busting your on tires and mounting them every time you change them out. finding a shop that will do them is tough and it takes a good while to do them right. i tourque mine down in sequence and it takes me 45 min to do one tire wheel combo right. you can get them balanced by a shop but they will not mount them. if you have balance issues the rims are always to blame as well.

it is also not a law abiding wheel in most states although i have not had a issue with the law or the wheels here in indiana. i have never had to tighten my bolts after they have ben mounted but i have had my tires off twice in the last year to replace them with different ones. they have always ben to spec when i checked them.

great wheel and worth the money.

Default Beadlocks

I believe the AEV Pintler beadlocks are DOT approved but you might want to check their site.

i love my spyderlocks... great wheel never any issues...but as someone else mentioned they do take some work and time to take apart/assemble... but i think its worth it... mine with 37's balance great.. i didn't even put any weights or beads in them and they run perfect i wouldn't worry about that DOT stuff.. Ive had bead locks for years never any problems. but the AEV are "DOT" approved.. if you care.
