Just curious. Has anyone out their tried to attach bolt on d-ring mounts like these http://www.quadratec.com/products/12126_0900.htm to their stock bumper?

a click-free for everybody else...

since the rear bumper is nothing but plastic aside from the rearmost crossmember, there's really nothing to bolt them to

Yea the stock rear bumper would give if you tried to hook them to anything and pull it out or anything.

Thanks for the click-free assist I know you'd have to drill holes into the cross member and attach like the receiver hitch or rear hook attaches. Then you'd have to cut slots in the plastic bumper for the ring holders to poke out from. I'm just not sure if it's worth doing. I'm saving up for a bumper with swing-out tire carrier but it's going to be awhile. Right now, I have a receiver hitch instead of tow hook which leaves me no rear recovery points and somewhat worried when off roading.

just go snag a shackle receiver or a receiver mounted tow hook

Besides that it's probaly cheaper, the shackle in the reciever will be more strong and secure... looks nice on the Jeep too

I am in total agreement with the other responder's. The bumpers on the stock JK are worthless. One of the first things I do is replace both of them with solid steel bumpers. I am afraid that for all your work and money, you would still have a rather poor substitute for what your trying to accomplish.

Go with the d-ring receiver hitch, they are on sale for $9 at Harbor Freight right now. Save your money for the bumper.
