Default If I got these wheels&tires, what else would I need?

I'm planning on getting one of the following wheel/tire combos.

1) ProComp 7069 wheels in 17x9 with 4.75" backspacing and 265/70/17 tires.

2) ProComp 7069 wheels in 16x8 with 4.0" backspacing and 265/75/16 tires.

I'm going with these sizes so that I don't have to mess with a programmer to change tire sizes.

Will the tailgate be able to handle these tires and wheels without bending? And would I need to get longer tailgate bump stops for the tires because of the backspacing? If so, how big would I need?

I have my 35" duratrac on the tailgate. I was worried about problems at first....

But you probably will have to increase the bumps, or a spacer.

Nothing will be needed. However, I believe that you will be sick to your stomach that you went with this small of a tire and kicking your self after you've done it. I would at least put a 33 on it... Think about this before you make an expensive mistake.

I went 285/75/16 and wish I went bigger. My speedo is only off by 1 mph.

What they said. Have you looked at the actual sizes on those tires? They are smaller than the stock rubicon and sahara tires. You would be better off just grabbing a cheap used set of either of those than buying new in that size.

Go out to the website for the tires you are looking at and check the specs list. It will show all of the various sizes, along with the standard height/width measurements in inches.

What size tire would you suggest for either wheel to run 32"?

I went with 265/75-16's my first go-round just to get me off the SR-A's. I put them on the stock steelies and they only rubbed at the 90-degree bend of the front swaybar during very extreme lock/articulation. (Actually, it could have been mud/rocks that rubbed.) They measured 31.5" on the ground at street pressures. I recalibrated my speedo (my OEM tires were 29") with an AEV ProCal I bought used for $50. Subsequently, I added 1.5" spacers for looks and because I got them cheap. I experienced some rub on the rear of the right front fender once, stuffed and full right lock.

I only kept the 265's for 4000 miles before I bought 315's and put them on 16x8 7069's. My ProCal adjusted for the tire height again. Here's a pic before I cut the fenders. My setup is in my profile. I need to add a couple inches of rear bumpstop because of the Rockstars, just to be on the safe side.

You could even open the faq's for more info on tire sizing and backspace issues.

It comes down to personal opinion and preference. The sizes you chose are smaller than the stock 32's. You can run either with no issues. If you want something bigger, look in the faq's for some background. You won't have any issues slapping one on the tailgate either. If you choose to replace the tailgate bumpstops, the new ones screw right in and can be trimmed to fit.
