Hey everyone I need help. I just recently purchased a 2009 jeep wrangler x. I am told by 4wd store that it has a 3" mopar lift and 275 60 18 tires. I can see it has mopar on the lift and stabalizer and of course the 18's are jeep. If I hit rough road at speeds above 30-40 and up I get a bad wobble in the jeep and steering which seems to be on the rights side. It is so hard to make it stop without completely stopping. What is this and how do I fix before I die ;-). Thanks for the help.

first and foremost, you need to check your track bar and make sure that the bolts are tightend to 125-130 ft lbs of torque. you also need to check your ball joints to make sure they aren't toast. these are the 2 most common causes of death wobble. i would take it to whoever installed your lift as they should be responsible for it.

Could be why they sold it to you - they didn't know how to fix the Death Wobble. Hopefully you purchased it from a dealer and you can have them fix it (for free).

Since you don't know the history there may be a bit of investigation in this - like Wayoflife said on a new lift the trac bar bolt usually isn’t torqued enough, though again with your Jeep you don’t know how long it’s been bad. Good luck.

Before I re-torqued the track bar I would remove it and inspect the mounting brackets to see if the holes have been elongated from the DW and inspect the bushing in the track bar. Also inspect around the welds on the brackets to see if there is any cracking. Repeted episodes of DW can and will cause other components to fail.

Thanks everyone I did get it from a dealer but thinking initially it was from the lift it has gotten worse so I am past my 30 days. I am going to try all your recommendations to try to get this fixed.

Thanks
