Default Tire advice please... Changing from 33s to 35s

Hey folks... I have a 2010 JK Unlimited Sahara w/ Automatic and am running 17" - 33 X 12.50s with standard gearing/

I have room for 35s and am thinking about switching but wondering if will need to re-gear. The standard gearing is ok with the 33s wondering how it would be with 35s.

If a gearing is required.... I'd appreciate some advice as to what gearing, source for the parts and cost???

Thanks,

Dave

Gearing is not needed although from what I've read and what I'm experiencing it is preferred. I have 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers and its cut down on the power, especially on the mountains here in Colorado. what gears are you running currently? My sahara came with the 4:10s which is why i'm not rushing in to it...

From what I have heard with an auto go as far past 4.88 as possible.

with 35s you are good with 5.13s.

opens up the option for 37s too. It all depends on your driving style I suppose

So what gears do you have currently? 3:21's or 3:73 (Tow package).

With an Auto tranny & 35's most owners preferred 5:13 gearing.

You don't NEED to re-gear but you will be much happier if you do. I ran 33s with stock 3:73 and hated driving my Jeep, even with a Flashpaq. I know run 35's w/ 5:13s and love driving it now. The gears made a HUGE difference!!

Not trying to thread jack at all but similar issue/question. Gears or STS/RIPP? This is my everyday driver and I have 3.73's.

Hey Jeff.... I see that you're from Mandeville. Geaux Tigers... Geaux Saints!!!

I'm originally a Baton Rouge boy living on the east slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains now near Martinsville, VA. Still have a daughter, son in law and a grandson in BR so I make it down to Bayou Country 3 or 4 times a year.

Anyhoo.... I'm thinkin the 5:13s would really improve my enjoyment of the 33s. I've got a Flashpaq and am running the 91 performance tune with 93 Octane. So I have the programming covered with re-gearing.

Now I'm gonna show my ignorance... If I change from the 3:73 to 5:13 are talking about replacing the gears in the rear end only? How much labor cost is involved in the installation? Where should I look for gears?

Thanks,

Dave

Need to replace both front and rear unless you remove front driveshaft but that makes no sense being as labor is usually starting at a thousand and going up from there. Full rebuild kits, ring and pinion available from Northridge. Great price too
