Default Pics/opinions about rear bumper/tire carriers.

So the 35's go on next Wednesday (12th). I'll be ordering a rear bumper/tire carrier combo on the 30th. I think I have it narrowed down to the LOD Gen 2 bumper and the Rugged ridge bumper. The LOD is about $1300 and the RR is about $750 (Canadian funds).

Both look great in my pinion. I hear the LOD bumper fit/finish is great but it' pricey. I hear mixed reviews about the RR but it's not so pricey. I really like that the LOD has the add ons for cargo/fuel.

I'd like to hear from those running these bumpers about the weight of each and general opinions. And nothing makes a good thread like lots of pics so feel free to add some .

For anyone who wants to suggest another option. If it ain't available from Northridge, I ain't ordering it. No one in Canuckville can seem to come close to Northridges prices.

I don't have much to say about the "weigh" (did you mean "weight?"), but I love my LOD Gen II full-width bumper and tire carrier. Almost 1 year later, and no squeaks or rattles. It is solid! I recently added the jerry cans, and they make a huge difference aesthetically ... in addition to providing some peace of mind and utility while offroading or camping. I got this cool "super siphon" thing to transfer water or fuel out of the cans, but I also have spouts.

Sorry I don't have better pictures; have not had a chance to do a photo shoot.

I got the RR bumper and tire carrier. The old saying "you get what you pay for" fits here. The Combo for the price you cant beat it. If I could afford the LOD I'd be all over it but for that price I got the rear tire carrier and front winch bumper under that price. I've got a limited budget for my jeep and these bumpers fell into my price range. As for the rear tire carrier mine is ok.... not as bad as others have complained about. Although I did have some issues with it when I put on my body lift. The latch pole (or what ever you call it) has about a nose hair clearance with the tail gate (barely clears), and thats after I beat it over with a rubber mallet. The install was just a bit of a pain due to the fact the bolt holes dont always line up and seems nearly impossible to bolt on, so after more drinking and thinking I made it work. I don't like the fact that there's no place to put a Hi-lift or add ons for jerry cans. I'm sure people have done something custom but haven't seen anything yet.

I believe it. This is definitely one of those areas in which we shouldn't compromise! So many stories about crappy tire carriers, bumpers, etc. It was expensive, but I am happy I spent the money. It's solid ... and I pity anyone who is unfortunate enough to rear-end me!

Default rear bumper and tire carrier

Dito on the LOD. I have the genII with jeep can holders and rack. It's solid and great on those weekend outings. It went on without a problem and the tire carrier easily holds my 35's. I grease the pin after every run and after 2 years no problems. Still as tight as the day I installed it.
