Default Protecting Paint from Hard Top

is there anything you can put between the body and the hardtop to protect it during removal/installation of the hard top? is was thinking of doing clear tape but it seemed kind of gehto.

Lange Paint Saver. Its a 40 mill clear plastic film that sticks to the edge of the tube. And it is great. four wheel drive hardware sells it. I got a scratch removing my hardtop, I repaired the paint and applied this stuff. It is really thick and protects great. #041301 4 door

I was wondering if you could help me out since you have used this product (I've been unable for weeks to get anyone from Lange to return a call - great customer service).

The width of this product is much wider than the edge of my tube. Am I supposed to trim this extra material, simply fold it to the interior so it's hidden, or what?

you are supposed to trim it from what I have read.

I know that you have to trim the length, but I haven't been able to get a clarification about whether the width also is supposed to be trimmed. It seems if they made it specifically for the JK it would be the exact width with no trimming required, but mine seems much wider than the JK rail.

Thanks

not sure if you would like the looks of it , but I applied truck bed liner from duplicolor on my rails and it looks great, like factory applied. The coating, once dried is scratch resistent, so it is very durable for a long time. It is very easy to use and apply , any one can do it. The look may not be for everyone though, but I love it.

it was easy to use and I really like the finish on it and its durabilty,so I painted the inside of my top with it, so it is not white anymore. I love it black, it looks so much better.

Damn, that looks great!!! I think I might do the same. I've got a couple scratches from taking off the top last summer... I gotta figure out how to get rid of them.
