Default Goodyear Duratracs at 52 psi...in the SNOW!!!

My jeep's been feeling funny lately, very jumpy and skittish. Some icy and bumpy streets kept rattling me. I usually run my tires at 32 psi, but I decided to check tonight. 52 psi!!! on all four tires. I remembered going to one of those oil change places a few weeks ago - it's the only thing I can think of. Dropped them back down to 32 psi and what a difference.

The remarkable thing was actually how well they gripped on ice and snow even at the ridiculous pressure. Going to keep an eye on the oil change boys next time, then do my own again when the weather warms up.

Oh man! Yeah the roads are shite eh? I love that we live in a Northern community and our snow removal budget is virtually non existent. I think our wash board roads loosened my trac bar jam nut up causing Val to get DW tonight and may have helped my front drive shaft die a little earlier than I would have liked. This hasn't been proven yet but I will know tomorrow. Although I just found out we have a Coast Drive Train down town so if I need a shaft I hope I can get it a bit cheaper than ordering it online.

Awww that's so crappy. My old YJ had a coast drive shaft from the shop here. While you're in there, are you going to ask about re-gearing?

If that's what they did to your tires..... I'd check my oil.

I have had that same problem driving on washboardy roads. I have started to throw a little bit of JB weld just a dab to keep it tight then if you need to loosen it up for anything you can just knock it off with a chisel. Works perfect.

Thanks. I added some tonight. As far as gearing goes I'll be holding off on that for a while.

Did you try Loctite, blue or red?
