Default Warn M8000 Solenoid location

I have just finished installing a Warn 8000 winch on my JK Unlimited. I would like to move the solenoid under the hood someplace - but where?

I have seen some threads on this topic but none specifically for a JK.

Any one who has done this, please give me your suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know how much help I'll be, but I'll offer my two cents. I was looking for a clean, "no visible wires" look for my M8000, but I ultimately decided that all the wires and control box is way too much crap to stuff behind the grill. Plus, I have a Rampage grill guard, so it REALLY would've been a pain in the ass! If you're going to use the plug-in control lead Warn gives you, leave the control box easily accessible. If you're planning wiring up switches to run the winch controls from inside your Jeep, hiding the box is an option. I didn't wire any interior controls, so I just ended up mounting mine on top and to the left of the spool. This works for me because my winch mounts on top of my bumper, rather than inside it. You'll also notice that I run with mine covered. Just for kicks, I'll show you my setup. The first pic is the most recent, and although it's hard to see, I ended up wrapping my wires in flex-tubing. A little better protection, and a much "cleaner" look. The middle picture is before the flex-tubing, and it just looked bad... Because of my grill mod, I ran my wires up under the fender rather than through the grill slits. Anyway, good luck!

I was considering mounting mine under the hood.
but why make it harder to access the solenoid
when your stuck you might wish that you had mounted it in the front
I mounted mine top left of winch.... you cant really see any wires.
i covered my wired with black plastic wire cover "loom" so its kind of hidden.
Looks really clean... ill try and get a pic for you sometime if you want

I used a electrical watertight 4x4x4 box. It's used for landscape lighting and can be buried underground ... Removed everything from existing solenoid box and made it compact under the hood.

This is a bit hard to see, but I just bent a piece of about 1.5" metal to mount this in the crossbar behind the grill. Very easy and clean looking I think.

I just tried to center the solenoid so it looked ok.....make it a feature instead of a drawback!
