Default Regearing from 3.21 to 4.88

I have a 2009 JK Unlimited that currently has 3.21 gears. I am regearing to 4.88. My question is do I need new carriers for the dana 30 and dana 44? Also what are the difference between the carriers? My new 4.88 gears look as though they will bolt up fine. Thanks for the help.

You'll need a new carrier for the Dana 30, it's under $100 I think.

The difference is the size/thickness/whatever the correct term is. There have been a few posts about using the 3.21 carrier and just doing some creative shimming. This isn't an optimal arrangement, and you are much better off with the correct carrier for the new gears.

What about the rear dana 44 carrier? What I have found is the cut-off is 3.92.

D44 carrier doesnt need to be changed regardless of ratio. As low as you can go is accepted
