I know this has been talked about a lot on other threads but I have a question that I can't find the answer to. I have the 3.21 gears in my jeep and I know 35's will make it sluggish but I have almost no hills in my driving area. I do 65 on the interstate with my stock 32's and get 25-26MPG's. Knowing this how bad do you all think the 35's will hurt my interstate millage. I plan to regear in about a year.

 

I got 35s and 3.21s in a 2 door manual. i went from about 22mpg to about 14 mpg

 

I have 35's with 3.21 gears and a 6sp transmission... I live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mtns so I'm not feeling the love of the 25-26mpg... I spend more time in 5th gear than anywhere else and yes I'm going to re-gear as soon as I can get the money together... not getting rid of my 35's

 

Did you recalibrate your computer to account for larger tires? If not that could account for some of the loss in MPG.

 

I could live with 20 on the interstate considering I drive 60 miles on it a day. Do you all think there is any way I can pull that off with the 35's and 3.21?

 

No I didnt, how would i go about doing that? Just take it by the dealership?

 

You will have to buy an aftermarket device. Superchip flashpaq, pro comp makes one and hypertech. The dealership can only do up to 32in tires.

 

Dealership can only set your tires to a 265 size, I just had a run in with them about it.

I live in the Houston area, just about everything is flat and I'm running 32s. I'm only getting 14-15 mpg period. The best mpg ive ever gotten from mine is 20.7 and that was on a 14 hour drive! I'm not heavy on the pedal, just all the damn traffic and overpasses.

I'm goin' with 35s as soon as these duratracs wear out, but I'm dreading it because my jeep will be even more sluggish and worse on mpgs. I am considering regearing before the 35s, I'm hoping it will make the jeep feel less sluggish.

 

Oh I forgot to add:
If you get an aftermarket device and you want to keep what warranty you have left (if you have one) the programmer can only
Change tire size. The jeep will tattle to Chrysler the next time you bring it in and then they bust out their big ol' VOID stamp to slather all over your warraty.
