Default best BS for 37" tires

What is the best back spacing for wheels for 37"x12.50 BFG KM2 or MTR tires? Will 4 7/8" back spacing work?

4-7/8" is way too much and you will get rubbing at a full turn and your rear side walls will sit really really close to the rear sway bar. 4-1/2" is the most i would go with and really, around 4" would be safer.

Im thinking about Walker Evans wheels. Should I just go with the 3 3/4" back spacing? I plan on a 4.5" lift and 37s. I want to run stock flares. With that small of a BS will the tires hit the fender flares easier and not tuck when flexing.

not if you have the proper amount of lift to clear 37's

Are there any disadvatages to running such a small back spacing? Will the balljoints wear out even faster?

anything less than stock will put more strain on your unit bearings and any tire taller than stock will put more stress on your axle c's and ball joints. i'm not trying to be smart here but if you're really worried about things like this, i would recommend that you stick with stock tires mounted on stock wheels.

i can tell you that i've tried running toyo's on 4.75" wheels and had all kinds of rubbing issues at a full turn and especially at a full turn and flexed. toyo's are a very wide 13.50 and you will have rubbing issues.

Ya, thats not going to happen.

37s or 40s are in my near future.

Im looking at 3 different wheels.
-17x9 with 4.75 BS
-17x8 with 4.75 BS
-17x8 with 4 7/8" BS

at most a 4.5" backspacing. I run my 37's on 4.5 and they rub ever so little. I wish I had a 4" back spacing but I already owned the wheels when I went up a tire size

A person can run 37s with more than 4.5" backspacing, but they will have to run taller suspension extended bumpstops to avoid rubbing on full flex, and they will have to adjust their steering stops significantly more (increasing turning radius) to avoid rubbing on lower control arms, the swaybar, and the frame with a full-lock turn.

You can order WE beadlocks with 4.5" or less backspacing.
WE makes a 3 3/4" BS wheel too???

Yup, I have 37" KM2s with 4.5 BS and they rub the sway bar just a tit at full lock. I would not be comfortable with 4.75 or more. 4.5 is the min.
