Detroit locker in the rear?
I am going to be regearing in the next month and want to install a locker in the rear while I am at it. I originally planned on doing an ARB locker but have recently been toying with the idea of a detroit. They seem like they are more reliable than ARB and are simplier. I know they can be quirky on road but just how quirky?
Most importantly, is the detroit going to cause the ESP to have all sorts of fits or is this not a concern?
I am leaving my front open with the thought that once it is no longer my DD I may just put a aussie up front.

Mine can be a little noisy going slow around turns and an occasional bang when it locks, I like mine, takes getting used to though.let's you know your a tad different than everyone else.
Auto lockers aren't the best solution for short wheelbase daily drivers, especially in areas that get slick. (The extra wheelbase in an unlimited helps). Sounds like you already know that, but doesn't hurt to read it again.
You'll love the off-road performance, just take it slow on the pavement until you get a feel for the new handling.

I just installed rear Detroit today. Ulimited Sahara auto, in the sunny weather of San Diego I hardly even now its there. A little driveshaft slop between forward and reverse, which you can eliminate with a little creep or roll before you shift into gear if it bothers you. Also fun with wheel curp in water aided tight turns. So far mine is totally quiet, and I couldn't be happier:yup

I've been wondering about this myself. I already have an Aussie up front that pops in tight turns but really doesn't affect the on road handling from what I can tell. If the Detroit is that polite on road I'd have no problem with one being in the back and changing the front over to a Truetrac when I get my 4.56 gears.
I had a detroit in my TJ. It will ocassionaly clunk which you can feel. If there is 10psi or more difference between each tire you will feel it. It will chew on the front edges of mud tires. With all that said, it is not as bad as most people say on road but that is my opinion.
