Default Tuffy Overhead Console owners -- A or B pillar?

I've started the install of my Tuffy Overhead Console, and I'm a little surprised to see they suggest routing the wires through the B-pillar. I had originally thought of going up the A-pillar and coming out behing the rear-view mirror. The Tuffy instructions say to route around/through the soundbar and then inside the overhead console center section. I just don't see how you could do this in an elegant manner without having some wiring exposed here and there. Am I missing something? Is there a reason _not_ to go up the A-pillar?

Maybe it's because Tuffy knows that that is where the water flows down when the soft top leaks??

You can do the wiring either way. The method in the assembly instructions is just a suggestion because that is the way we installed ours. I have seen people route through the A-pillar without any problems.

My overhead console should be here by the weekend. I was planning on cabling through the Apillar, but of course, hadn't seen Tuffy's instructions yet.

Would love to hear how the install went and see somepics before I get into mine.

I'll take pics, but it might be a few days before it's finished. Get ready to fab some little brackets to mount your CB to Tuffy's support bracket. My CB was also too long and wide (Cobra 29WXNWST) -- I had to cut a piece off the support bracket so it could slide in to the opening past the lock, and grind down the sides a bit.

Tuffy has you screw in some bolts from the top for the soundbar mount, so you gotta remove the hardtop. I wish they'd done it the opposite way so we didn't have to take the hardtop off. This is what stopped me last night -- I'll have to finish the install this week-end.

Looking at the dimensions it looks like my Cobra 19 will fit without issue.. and no hard top problems either, soft top .. and it's down until the next major forcast of rain...

thanks for the heads up.

Wouldn't screwing in from the top be more secure though? I suppose only as long as you had the hard top on...
