My Rubi was side swiped
So the mrs. and I go to breakfast last sat. We are about to sit down, when we hear this loud bang. Turns out a Nissan maxima hits my parked jeep, hits my driver side rear black fender, rock rail, front fender, rim, and pushes the jeep two feet onto the sidewalk which hits a pole, bangs up the bumper. Luckily the guys car is so messed up that he cant go anywhere. He has insurance. The guy says he fell asleep behind the wheel. I am thinking I got off easy. Then I try to drive it….. The front suspension is a mess!!! I can’t drive it 200 feet.
I cant believe my weekend warrior is in this condition, its only four months old, with 4500 miles. 3000 of which were from a trip to New Mexico.
I spend all of Monday trying to figure out where I am going to take it. I find a shop that takes works with Chrysler, They do the body work, but send the car to the dealership for mechanical issues. My old man and the service manager are buddies, so I go for it. I decide to go through the other parties insurance “State Farm” Their adjuster misses 1/3 of the damage on the body!!! Which pisses me off, so I call SF and tell them to send his ass back, they say don’t worry its only preliminary, and that they know that its only the beginning because the mechanical issues have not been resolved.
So the rig is dropped off a the dealership, so I go talk to the service manager, and he basically says they will get it back to where it was, don’t worry. I address that esp and esbd better be tested. Again don’t worry, but if the insurance company tries to cut corners they will not do the work. They will let me know right away if the insurance co tries to play games. So I am now playing the waiting game. If any chance state farm tries to rip me off, I am going to go back to my insurance, and pursue he claim through them.
Sorry about the long winded rant, but I have to vent!!!

State Farm seems to be the better (not best, note that) of companys to deal with. And yeah the preliminary thing is crap. The accident with my car (that led to me getting the Jeep) the prelim estimate was $2800.... haha total bill was $8,600 to fix completely then the body shop had to pay me another $560 because they scratched the crap out of my Carbon Fiber hood
That truely pains me to read. It's a fear of mine, that someone will smack my rig and then I have to play the waiting game... or worse they "total" it and then I have to play the REALLY long waiting game for DC to make more Rubicons.
Sounds like you know what you're doing and you have a good dealership with you. Hopefully all will be restored... so, the guy fell asleep? In California, that can get you arrested, especially if you caused an accident.

Personally, I'd get a lwyer and let them handle the other persons insurance. I'm not a big fan of lawywers in some situations, but when it comes to insurance companies, they seem to try and get away with less when they are talking to a lawyer. Mind you, when it's only vehicle damage, you'll probably need ot pay the lawyer, but in th elong run it would probably be worth it.
I agree. Get a lawyer. I am not a fan of them, but in this situation it is your best bet to protect yourself. Also, don't sign anything, and don't give a recorded statement. If they ask to record it, tell them to write it down. This is how I ended up with my JK. I got into a wreck in my 04 Unlimited and the insurance company was jerking me around until I got a lawyer. Sorry your jeep is wrecked, I know it sucks.
They obviously took full responsibilty for the damage. I know that doesnt mean anything. I looked into getting a lawyer, but the $$$ comes out of my pocket. The best bet, if they balk on some of the repairs is to get my insurance co involved. At this point they are replacing everything with new parts "that was in their prelimanry report", except for the rim. However if the rim is not like new... which I am sure it wont be. I will get a new one. I am just happy that we were not in the car, and my wife is OK.

I would have pushed for them to scrap it and get me a new one...
