Default Shifter knobs

I know this is a DA question but can someone tell me how the shifter knobs are attached to the shifters? I have the six speed and my dealer doesn't know because he doesn't have much experience with them. I want to swap out to T Handles because I like the feel and the look. The blow up in the service manual shows a thread at the top of the shift lever but the service mgr says he believes the knob is pressed on and not screwed on. Thanx in advance for your help.

So is the top of the lever threaded so I can screw a T handle on or would the new knob have to be pressed as well? Is the t-case lever pressed on as well?

No it's smooth. I pulled mine out and put in the granade knob handle. The granade came with an anchor screw.
Your going to need to use a stong epoxy glue. You can get it at any hardware store.

I used an epoxy to attatch beer tap pullers onto my CJ's and it worked great.
