Default Is it ok to remove inner fenders?

Let me start by saying I live in Maine. Road salt, dirt, rocks and grime in the winter. Is it ok to remove the inner fenders if I decide to trim my fenders or is it better long term to keep them on? Can you keep them on with a fender trim?

I cut the front inners a bit and left them in. For the rear, I removed the inners and hit the wheel well with duplicolor spray-on bedliner.

Is it ok? I don't know, but mine are out. I'm gonna foam the holes one of these days.

With all the salt that we have on the roads up here I'd leave them on the Jeep. Plus when you hit the mud it will keep alot of it from being sprayed around the engine compartment. Even with mine in I still got a brown engine compartment but I could only imagine how much worse it would have been without them.
