Will the Adjustable MX6 or RS9000XL give a softer ride than say a OME or Bilstein? I'm looking for a soft DD ride and I'm thinking if I go with adjustable shocks I can tune them to my liking assuming they go soft enough.

What would be better MX6 or RS9000xl?

I had the MX-6 shocks and personally hate them. Way too stiff even on the lowest setting.

I drove a friends Jeep that had the 9000's and it felt great. I ordered up the 9000's yesterday

Havn't drove a Jeep with the Old Man Emu, but have heard great things about those as well.

I have had both and I prefer the Ranchos. That's why I ordered another set of them. The MX-6 shocks have a higher pressure charge than the 9000XL's do. Therefore the ranchos will ride softer.

Default Soft Ride

Go to a 4 x 4 shop and play with them, you will get the idea, puish each one in a few times, and then try and pull it oput to see how it handles rebound. Not an on car experience, but you will get an idea.
Rancho's and OME are definetily soft.

I've been running the MX-6 for a couple years now. They'll do the job and have held up well...but, I honestly can't tell the difference between softest to firmest setting...they're always quite firm LOL, but that might not be a bad thing for some, just something to consider

I've run the Rancho's and really like the adjustability of them. around town, I run them real soft, Highway they get pushed up a few notches and off road they are on the stiffest setting.

So now I am thinking either rancho rs9000, ome or bilstein 5100 shocks. I've heard that bilsteins are the stiffest. Ome are said to be softer but damn they are ugly. I'm looking for a nice DD shock.

I don't know what's worse my mx-6 shocks or my pro comp coils, but something definitley sucks.

Both these shocks are gas charged. They will return automatically. You are thinking of cheap non-charged shocks that can be pushed in and pulled out. Even the Rubicon OE shocks are gas charged.
