Default Pure Jeep rear bumper--tire carrier is seized up

My PJ2001 tire carrier was neglected for too long, and now is seized up at the hinge post. I removed the spare, and have been trying to loosen it up with grease. I can swing it out with effort, but I cannot remove it in order to get it back in shape. Any suggestions on how to get it unstuck to remove it for maintenance?

did you put in enough grease so that it was oozing out of the seams? if not, you haven't given it enough grease and doing so should help out.

I think so Eddie. Plenty of grease was oozing out one half the circumference of the sleeve. I guess it's the other half that's sticking. I know, foolish of me to let it go so long.

Just wanted to close out this thread. I was able to free the tire carrier with gobs of grease, a Hi-Lift jack (i had the rear end off the ground that carrier was so seized) and another body working the carrier. Kids, do not be like me--those zerks are there for a reason! Thanks guys.
