Default Tire Carrier Latch Help

So I blew out the U-bolt on my tire carrier latch:

It was operator error on this one, but is now fixed, however I'm having second doubts about the latch I'm using. Does anyone have any good resources for a better latch I could use?

Looking around I'm thinking maybe switching to a rod end attached to the end of the swing out and a new receiver welded onto the bumper along the lines of how the Gen-right and Offroad Evolution bumpers attach?
