Default drive shaft grease

So today I hit a bump going around 34-40 mph and got some ridiculous steering wheel vibration that lasted for at least 10 seconds. Got home and started looking around underneath. Everything seemed fine but i noticed what looks like grease splatters above my front drive shaft at the rear. Seems to drive fine otherwise, but have noticed the wheel vibration a few times but didn't really think anything of it until today. Does this mean I'll need to replace the drive shaft soon or could it be fine and the shimmy related to something else. Doesn't seem like the "death wobble" since it was just the steering wheel, but am I wrong?

I have 35's with 3" Teraflex full suspension, adjustable control arms, steering stabilizer, adjustable track bar that have been on there for almost 2 years. Honestly I'm not even sure what else since it's been so long. I haven't really had time to do anything else or keep up with the forums. I remember a while ago seeing a picture of the same thing I saw under mine... Does anyone know where I can find that old thread. I did a search and check FAQ but couldn't.

Those joints are not serviceable, it needs to be replaced. Pull the shaft off and go for a drive to verify that it is also causing the vibes. If they are still there, look into replacing other components with the new shaft

Didn't see any tears, but I was out there with a flash light when I was looking so I'll have to check again tomorrow.

Default OEM driveshafts

OP'er; If you decide to replace the shafts with OEM parts; then I have both front and rear with only 4K miles on them. Can't tell where you're located via your profile; but I'm in LA, Cal. PM me if you are interested.

I poured some in some counteract balancing beads and that took care of the rest.

By the way, I also had the boot start losing grease, but this probably isn't the cause of your problem. I'm guessing this is what you saw under your jeep. Mine started doing this with a 2.5" lift and did it for a while but never caused any steering problems. It's probably the trackbar or out of balance tires.

Also, the boot wasn't torn. The grease was coming out from underneath the rubber where you see the metal clamp.
Clean the grease splatter and see if it continues to leak. If so, you need to replace the shaft. If not, the grease squeezed out bc you changed the able of the shaft when u lifted. Mine did the same and no longer leaks and the shaft is fine. Just jeep an eye on it!

The extending/condensing boot got ripped on mine and b/c of my extended powertrain dealer covered it and i went after market for free. i was having a vibration at 50mph and there was grease splattering because of the zipped boot.

Like it was said before, clean the grease and see if it's still splattering, If it still is, i would go aftermarket. Supposedly stock shafts for the front are almost $800.00 JE Reel front 1310 HD is $530

Thanks I checked the track bar and it was pretty tight. I did get about half a turn on it though. Hard to do with the big torque wrench I had I'll wipe off the grease
And see what happens.
