Default Broken driveshaft and cracked tranny!

A friend of mine wanted to test the J.E. Real driveshafts on his 3" lifted 2 doors JK, so we decided that I lend him mine (1350) and same time I take his on my rig and drive the car "nicely" on road for two - three days tills that my friend do his stuff testing my HD shafts.. Guess what....

After 30KM's driving my JK about 100KM's I broke the OE drive shaft and cracked the transfer case!! Without warning or vibs, the shaft broke and the transfarecase cracked ! (Rear drive shaft)

Advice: Never use your stock OE on lifted JK, if you think vibs are ok to handle tills that you change the shafts, these vibs can crack your t-case

Car was put on a recovery truck back to my place, and thanks to good dealer relations, a new tranny been supplied (as good will warranty) and this weekend I will get back my J.E.Real shafts, fit the new tranny but before that I will redo the entire front and rear c-arms adjustment and double check the caster. For the broken shafts, I will do my own tweaks to make it work again.

Did you re-adjust your arms for the OE drive shaft?

Looks like he is running a 2-door with a 4" lift.... Everything I have read says that you have to do drive shafts with this configuration...

We just got a new extended drive shaft this week for a TJ. Just had the lift done about 2 months ago, then after the suspension settled, the vibration started. Sounded a little suspect with the high cost to fix but looked it up

Driveshaft Vibrations and correcting with Slip Yoke Eliminator (low-end fix, minimally informative)

Drive Shaft Basics Article (very informative and I understood it)

Vibrations after gear changing (also very informative and I understood it)

Not sure if this helps.

Chaps I wasn't on the 4WD! I was driving the JK on the highway doing 100KM/h., when I suddenly started hearing clung-clung-clung noise with extreme vibs like I was in a popcorn machine by the time I reduced my speed and went down under the car to see, I could see oil leaking from a micro crack in the tranny body, the rubber seal on the drive shaft (rear is all torn and melt), a lip of the flange was also gone.

My setup is 4" lift kit on a 2doors version yet fixed control arms lower front and rear. I only have upper arms adj. and my castor is around 2.7 degrees rear and about 1.8" front. With J.E.Real shafts I got no vibs and I was going to put the full adj. arms lower and upper and redo my castors but but ..

Right now I have cut my skyjacker lower arms and will play with them to make them adj. (Teraflex arms are on the way, but tills they are here it doesn't harm to try cutting these useless ones !!)

I will post some pics so you see what happend. This is a serious warning not to ignore vibrations, extreme vibrations cracked the tranny!

Ok im confused. Your first post contradicts itself. You state "without warning or vibs" but then turn around and say "if you think vibs are ok to handle tills that you change the shafts, these vibs can crack your t-case" So I guess ill point out the obvious, if there was a vibration prior to the mishap, that is indeed a WARNING. "This is a serious warning not to ignore vibrations, extreme vibrations cracked the tranny!"
