Default front axle breather hose

I have noticed as of lately my front axle breather hose and hose fitting falls/is pulled out of my axle after wheeling and sometimes regular street driving. I a planning on extending them soon so this will hopefully be less of an occurence. When i go to put the hose/fitting back in the axle it seems like it goes in real easy. Should it be like this?

I bought a roll of new hose and cut longer lengths extending mine after the lift was put on cause they were doing the same thing. More so on the back though. The hardest part was reaching where they were in the mounts up high. Not so hard in other words. I did have to cut the original hose to get the breather dohickey out. The new hoses do slip right onto the axel fitting however, with little effort. I would imagine you could put a small hose clamp on each to give yourself peace of mind that nothing will grab them and yank them off easily while off roading.

I was thinking of using hose clamps myself and make the hose longer.

Thanks guys, but i do not see how a clamp will help with the fitting sliding right out with minimal resistance.

I used a big zip tie and cut off what I did not need . Just make shore U leave slack in the line so if the tires come off the ground it will not pull on the line .

Guys, have you read his post. He says the fitting (IN THE AXLE) is coming out. I haven't looked at mine so I'm no help right now, sorry. How does the fitting attach to the axle guys? Is it threaded, pressed in, etc? How can he fix this?

I had the same problem on my 09 Rubicon. I cleaned the metal fitting well with brake cleaner and then wet the corner of a rag with brake cleaner and cleaned the hole which the fitting slides into so it was free of any oil. DO NOT shoot brake cleaner into the axle breather hole!!! I applied red Locktite to the outside of the metal fitting, slid it back into the axle, and let it sit over night. It has not come out since and it has been over a year. You could also try to get a new fitting from the dealer but I don't know if it would fit any tighter. Make sure you do your extension ASAP as that is only making things worse. Good luck!

it's just pressed in. if you dont extend it and you put a hose clamp on it, it's going to give somewhere else. most suspension shops just follow it above the axle and hook it from it's "zip tie" or "holder".

i personally extended the hose, put clamps around the base (on the axle) and where to two tubes came to meet, and left it on the "holder".
