Default Two Door hole in the rear of tub.

in the two door jk's there is this hole in the tub on both sides under the carpet. I guess it's about 2x5 inches. will this fill up with water, cause other problem? is there any way for water to drain out of it? And does anyone know of a way to plug it, or even turn it into a storage area. I thought a boat storage hatch kinda thing would be cool, but those are usually circles. here are some pictures to show.

That's all I need. A rubber cover like the drain plugs in the floor. I took the carpet out and I never have rubber covers on it.

Man that looks like it is glued in or something. I was hoping it would be like the floor drain plugs where you can pop it in and out.
