This is something I'd really like to do, are there any cons to this mod? I'd love to hear how well you like it or whT you don't like about it. Also i'n 4 high is it hard on The lockers to go above a certain speed ?

 

I did it on my 07 rubi about 3 years ago. I have never regretted the mod. Some things to be aware of is that if you hit the switch accidentally or not the lockers will engage. Also the dash light will blink when you have the lockers engaged, they will not go solid like your current lights do. The lights go out as there supposed to when you disengage the lockers.

 

The only real drawback is it gives people the ability to lock at the wrong time, which can be disastrous.

 

Do you mean when going at a high speed?

 

Not just high speed. Mostly, anytime on a slippery road.
Normally, when unlocked, only one tire on an axle will lose traction, leaving the other tire to maintain some sort of directional stability.

With the axle locked, both tires can lose traction at the same time. This can leave you with no directional control. That's a pretty bad situation on the road with speeds a lot higher than on the trail, and other vehicles in close proximity all around you.
Even if you are the only vehicle in the area, you can find yourself off the road in a flash.

Entering a curve on a slippery (or even wet) road can be hazardous with one or both axles locked. The Jeep may want to go straighter than what you want.

These are some of the reasons in stock form, locking is available in 4lo only.

There are times I think it would be good to be able to lock without having to be in 4lo. Often, the normal Brake-Lock-Differential feature makes it unnecessary.

Great mod, i've had it installed just over a year, no problems with it. take the time to properly splice the wires, do not use those cheap splicing clips. I do a lot of sand driving mainly in 4H, having the rear locker at my finger tips is priceless. highly recommended
