Default Need help with BB choice, New member!

Hey!!!

I have a 2008 Unlimited X that I want to install a BB on. I have $300-500 budget and need help picking a kit...I will also need wheel spacers for my 285/70/17 Kelly TSR's.

I was/am looking at the Rough county kits but I am open to suggestions. I will be doing some mild to moderate off roading, do I need aftermarket shocks? If so what are your thoughts on this Kit?

one thing that needs to be considered is that this is my daily driver as well.

thanks

I want to install a BB
You want a BB? Or you want a coil lift? (that link is a coil lift)

BB's are cheaper, since it is just spacers that go on top of your stock coils. The downside is they don't handle extra weight well. So if you plan on bumpers and armor and winch, etc, you are better off with coils.

And the issue with coils is that they are more expensive, and generally give more lift than the stated amount. With added height comes handling issues, and the possibility of wanting/needing more components.

Shock extensions or new shocks is a preference. If you don't mind the ride of your current shocks, you'll be fine with the spacers.

As far as an opinion on that 'kit' goes, it's just coils and shocks. No links, no axle centering, no brakelines, no caster correction, no nothing. Just coils and shocks.

I would say the Teraflex BB is a great place to start, or even just their leveling kit.

I just installed my TF 2.5' BB last week and I'm very happy with it. Also, you can probably find one used for $160-$175 and use the rest on other mods.
