Default death wobble cause of SS????

I have a 2door jk wrangler with BFG ATs 35s. When i instaled the OME LD lift with nitrocharger sport dampers and an OME steering stabilizer i had two death wobble experiences..... when i hit a bump my front end start shaking and couldnt stop the shake till i was under 10mph. I tried to find what caused the wobble and i found tha the SS that I instaled came in touch with the front trackbas base.... it is an OME SS as well. When i removed OME SS and I instaled the original SS problem disappeared. Despite the fact that I Have a very light steering everythink is OK till now... almost 1000 miles done.....
The question is does OME SS fits my jk or do I have to blame the instaler???

Many Thanks indeed.....

I had the same issue. The bolt holes that secure the front track bar on both ends became elongated due to bolts becoming loose. I had to have a heavy duty washer welded onto both sides of each of the mounting brackets to fix this issue. After this fix, I still had a slight wobble from time to time. I then checked all of my bolts for the upper and lower control arms on the front and rear and found two bolts on the front control arms loose. I then tightened all control arm and track bar bolts both front and back. This cured my death wobble. I also noticed my steering damper is shot. Will replace it with after market one soon.

Dealer has checked everything and tells its fine.... I have retorqued everything according to specs.... Should I loose my trackbars bolts and torque them back with my jeep on the ground??? The strangest think is that after i reinstalled the original SS the jeep is fine, except that i have alittle shimmy around 50 mph... I knew that a heavy duty SS masks DW but as it seems OMEs SS brought my DW to life..... I am really messed up....

I had a similar issue of DW on a completely stock setup. I replaced the SS with an upgraded Rancho 500 and still had the issue. Took it to the dealer and they put on a new factory SS and problem solved. They said there was a TSB on the SS, installed a new one for free. Lets hope that the result lasts.

Do a search for threads started by me. I have a thread that explains DW and how to diagnose the source(s).

Hey planman, I respectfully suggest you add a link to that post to your signature block. I think it would help everyone out a lot. Unless it can be made a sticky in the modified section.

At the risk of sounding conspiratorial, what are the chances that the dealer is doing some other tweaks when they perform this TSB? I took mine in for this TSB as my first step after experiencing this, and the DW has not returned.

I still have a very hard time believing that merely changing the stabilizer fixed the problem because there is not a stabilizer built that could manage the violent wobble I had.

After the stabilizer I also;

replaced tires;
tightened track bar and various other bolts in the area;
adjusted cam bolts to 4.2 caster and retightend on the ground after giving the Jeep a a shake and rechecked to make sure caster was still on point;
replaced shocks.

Still no DW, and all of the other things I did may have contributed or caused, so it's kind of polluted now.

Fingers crossed things stay smooth. Will report here if it returns.
