Default Stock Rims

So bare with me here as this is my first jeep. I bought a stock base model no frill Wrangler X 2dr in october. They come with the 16x7 steelies. I was wondering what's the biggest tire I can fit on that without problems when I lower the pressure. I don't plan on voiding my warranty for the next couple of years with a lift kit. So I don't really want to invest in new rims that won't fit the jeep. I figured instead I could get a slightly larger tire, and the money I save on not getting rims can be put into something else in the mean time.

Hope everyone here follows my logic!

Yea I know I can fit up to a 32" w/o rubbing. I was wondering what I could fit onto my 16x7 rim though. I'm not that great with tires, and don't want to buy something that's 10" wide to find out that it was a mistake.

You won't have any issues with width. You could fit a 7" tire on a 7" rim if you wanted as long as you get the bead to seat. Nothing some gum cutter and fire won't do.

As far as over width, I try to stay under 5". i.e. 38x13.50 tire on no less than a ??x8.50 rim or 30x10.50 no less then ??x5.50 rim

Nitto has a reference guide on their website. Tells you what rrim widths are recommended for each size tire they sell.

Why would the lift void your warranty? I bought mine already with a 2.5 lift installed by the dealer, and it's warranty is still intact for 100K. Maybe if you go over the 2.5 lift it might void it , just curious.

There's a massive thread in the forums on here regarding lift kits and voiding the warranty. I refuse to the take the risk till it's paid off in 2.5 more years.

You can run a 12.5 tire without problems as long as you invest in wheel spacers. You can run 35's with flat fender and bumpstop extensions.
