Maximum Weight On Stock Tire Carrier
Hey guys and gals , anyone know what is the max weight that can be put on the rear tail gate ??
35'' and stock rubi rims are already kinda of heavy but want to add a cargo rack for equipment too but don't want to break the hinges or pull off the carrier mount
thanks

Im running 35's and i opted for the warn rear bumper and carrier a real nice piece a lil pricey but the stock bumpers are junk compared to it of course there are lots of other nice lookin ones for cheaper like purejeep lod etc. I wouldnt run it on ur stock bumper too risky expecially if you do any wheeling i think it would mess your jeep up. Just my .02
Your 35 is probably about 90lbs or so, give or take 10lbs depending on what type of tire. If your running that on the stock wheel, the weight is going to be closer to the door, this means less moment force, which is a good way to go. The thing you need to think about is the moment force that occures buy adding a rack (based on its position), not just the addtional weight. when you cruise down the road and your hitting all those little bumps the weight on the back door wants to cycle up and down, the bigger the bump and the more weight back there, the more momentum the rack/tire has, thus the more force applied the the door. Only thing is, rather than going directly down the force is redirected out away from the door, and puts a torque on the hinges, door skin, and locking mechanism. The further out the weight is from the door the more torque (moment force) applied, the faster your stuff is going to where out or break.
Of course its all going to depend on how much your going to use it, what your going to carry, and all that stuff....
