Default Buschwacker flat fender flares protection

I've found a few threads about the Buschwacker flat flares but nothing that relates to what I need to know. With my larger spaced out tires and removal of the stock plastic side steps (replaced with LoD sliders) all the road debris is slung right onto the sides of the Jeep. The entire sides are covered with bits and pieces of asphalt and little rust speckles of metal from the snow plow blades. Would adding the Buschwacker flat flares help reduce the mess? What's the upper and lower end width of the flat flares compared to the stock ones?
