Teraflex Elka or Tera tuned Fox Shocks?
I'm debating......... which ones? I dunno, looking for some input from those that are running them. And/or have ridden in jk's with either. Which handles high speed washboard, whoops, on road ride better?
Its funny you asked this question Im in the same situation...I talk to David today at Northridge and the fox shocks are on a 45+? day backorder with no sight of stock levels coming in soon. He also mentioned that he thinks the Elkas are better shocks anyway and they just dropped the price to 999 for all 4.
Great thread, I'm interested in the answer as well. I used to ride a race quad and I know that Elkas were very well respected with the desert guys. I know there is a big difference between Jeeps and quads, but Elka clearly knows how to build a shock to handle desert abuse.

No experience on jeeps but Elka's on ATV's are fantastic shocks. You can't go wrong with them. The real advantage I see with the Fox shocks is you can make your own adjustments. I don't know what ability you have to make adjustments on the Elka shocks, on the ATV shocks you can make all sorts of adjustments.
Unless you are racing the jeep you probably don't need to worry about any adjustments though.

If Fox ( or any MFG) gets parts from Japan the supplies could have been affected by the damage there. A 90+ day back order tells me that some component used in that shock comes out of Japan.
I think I saw where GM has been forced to shut down an engine plant is laying off workers due to a parts shortage caused by the problems in Japan.

Living in San Diego, CA we are close to the desert and for years have seen and driven in atv's with the Elka's that's why I was really interested in them for the JK but they came out after we had made the King plunge. Can't go wrong with the Elka's and now that the price has come down I think you'll see more people running them!
