bf goodrich KM2 VS bf goodrich AT
Hey Guy's,
I can't decide between thes two, can anybody help me? I do 80% road and 20 % off road ( mud, woodlands, some small rock's ).
how are the KM2's in wintertime ( cold temperatures and rain, snow etc... )?
I like the look of the KM2's over the look of AT's, but i don't wan't to make the mistake of getting tire's that will not work good for what i wan't.
cheers

I have ran both of these tires.
The AT's are completely useless in MUD they load up and you are on a surface like ICE! They do however wear like iron probably the longest lasting tire I have had. I have ran them on two pickup and my jeep 60K is not unheard of at all. They are also very quite on road.
The KM2's are a beast off road they do everything and more than I expected. They clean out well and very easy infact its almost hard to get them to load up. When aired down the traction and wrap of the tire around rocks and obstacles in unreal. They are louder than the AT on road but not bad at all for a MUD tire. Currently I have 35K on them and I'm sure I can get another 10-15 out of them. In the winter the AT will be better paticularly is you have them siped.
That is my experience with the two. For you I would ask yourself these questions:
1. How quite do you want the Jeep on the road?
2. How capable do you want the jeep offroad?
It will be a compromise between the two but in the end both are great tires and you will be happy.

I would say km2. I love mine! I got them siped and they are amazing on snow and ice as well. I have done 90% on road driving since I bought em. I have done 4000 miles since I bought em and they have had 100% perfect wear. I took em to get rotated at the shop I bought em from. And they said the tire still looks perfect and they can't even measure any tread loss yet!
:-) and they look awesome :-)

The ATs are a great tire (along with the Duratrac for you goodyear fanboys) for all around driving. If you get into the thick soupy mud, they suck. Trail rides are pretty good with the AT KO. They take forever to wear out and perform well in rain/snow.
The KM2 is a mud tire that I have yet to experience. But I am definitely looking at a set of these when I move up to 35s. I drove a Jeep with them briefly when I was shopping for a new Jeep and they run quiet for a MT. The only thing I think is lacking for the KM2 is the aggressiveness. The sidewalls of the MT are pretty toned down compared to other mud tires I see out there.
Either one is great, but if you're really that concerned about snow performance... get the AT. Snow performance is based on the driver, not the tires. Just a little less gas and you should be fine with the KM2.

the KM2s only downfall is when on ice, but thats true for any Mud tire
