Default DuraTracs on Stock 18" Sahara Wheels

I'm down to two choices (one safe choice and one, well...not as safe). I've ordered the Teraflex 1.5" BB leveling kit and 1.5" Spidertrax Spacers.

I want to keep my stock Sahara rims (7.5" wide?) and want to put Duratracs on. I'm contemplating two tire sizes...275/70/18 being the safe choice (I know they'll fit on the stock rims without any problems and there won't be any rubbing) and 295/65/18 (unsure of rubbing and the minimum recommended rim width is 8"). What's everyone's opinion? Would the extra $$ for the 295's even be worth it? After squeezing them on the 7.5" rim would I even benefit from the extra .8" tire width? Anyone running these on stock Sahara rims? Any rubbing with a 1.5" leveling kit and 1.5" spacers? Thanks everyone.

I don't have the exact answer, but lets see if this helps... I am running 295/70R18 on stock 18" wheels w/ 1.5" spacers granted they are Nittos, but still.. with 295's I imagine you'll be tight (probably rub) at full flex. However, you'll probably have to modify the plastic air dam underneath as mine rubbed with a 2.5" coil lift. The wheel width will not be an issue.

Just checked out your album. Jeep looks good! Thanks for the info. Maybe I should go with the 2.5" BB just to be safe. Any risk of the tire coming off the rim when I air down? I'll be doing a little beach driving and that would be a nightmare.

I've aired down only once and it wasn't that low maybe 25, but there were no problems. from what I've seen with other people and this tire/wheel combo I don't anticipate any issues with airing down. Obviously too low will cause problems with any wheel size, but should be ok..

edit: meant to add.. I would go with the 2.5.. then you can run 35's and down the road with flat fenders and maybe a small spacer even 37's.. more options for only a minor cost..

Its a Leveling Kit vs Budget boost.. really only meant to take the rake out.. but it does give you a small lift..

Yeah 2.5" BB would probably be better. I have to admit though i was really loving that 3 hour installation time vs. the day or two for the 2.5".

Offroad Warehouse. Hit up ORWJK on these forums. He has a sale going on right now.

Quoted me $115 shipped to my doorstep.

don't let that fool you, the install is almost the same, you still have to take off a lot of the same parts. I had absolutely zero experience with jeeps and just asked for some forum help. me and another member spent 6 hrs installing on a Saturday. It was a great learning experience. if you find the right person or have more tools than we did, shouldn't even take that long. there is a great write up on here about the 2.5" coil lift install, it covered every problem.

One more thing to think about is your desired lift and off road results.. I put on the 295's (they're .25" smaller than the 35" nitto trail grapplers) thinking I would never want to go past 35's. well a year later and 37's sure would be fun.. well I can probably do this with the 2.5" lift and some more mods, but not the leveling kit. I actually was going to go with the leveling kit first as well. as many have said, this is an addiction and you'll always want bigger..

You'll love the results of the either one.. good luck.

Anyone running 295/65/18 Duratracs with leveling kit and spacers? Would really love to hear your thoughts and see pictures. Thanks.
