Default question on the rc 2.5 lift

Thinking about beefing up my 2010 wranlger unlimited a little with a 2.5 rc lift. I dont do any extreme off roading, mild trails here and there with the kids. I was wondering do I really need to do the rear trac bar relocator? The kit I am looking at doesn't come with it. I have a friend that has this kit without any issues and it seems fine but just wanted to get some more feed back on what you guys thought. Thanks in advance for any info....

I helped a friend install this kit, or a similar. All his had was 4 springs and 4 shocks.. U WILL want front and rear track bars to re center axle because his was off about 3/4"... And u will want a set of front upper or lower control arms, because your caster, like his, will be at prob 2 or 1 degree... This will give u white knuckle driving on the highway and the truck will kinda drive it's self... U will also want longer sway bar links.

All these parts he has since ordered...

More expensive kits from other places come with these parts. Remember u get what u pay for with jeep parts.

Oh.. Welcome to the forum!!!!!!!!!

Im running a rough country lift and have been happy with it. Every jeep is different I don't think a lot of guys running a mild 2.5 lift are running new control arms, i would say a huge portion aren't. Sway bar link are a good idea but I've been running 2yrs on my originals also. So ya if budget is a concern don't let people tell you have to spend more money than you are willing.

Thanks for the info. I heard about trac bars but never the control arms. I had orignal planned on the 2" rubicon express but that kit is not available anywhere anymore. I will just have to look around for more complete kit for a good price.

Which rc 2.5 kit do you guys have? I am looking at the budget boost one with shock extension and NO trav bar bracket. Do you guys have trac bar brackets?

I just installed the RC 3.25 lift (its the 2.5 springs/shocks with a few added parts and 3/4" spacers on top). I drove about 50 miles on it this morning, and so far I'm really happy with it. If you are just doing the 2.5" kit I would most definitely add some sort of brake line relocation brackets for the rear. The stock lines don't really have that much room to spare. As far as the track bars.......I would install the kit and see how it looks and handles. The 3.25" kit had a rear track bar bracket, but nothing for the front. My rear axle is centered, but the front axle is now shifted about 1/2" towards the drivers side. It still drives straight, and it doesn't seem to effect the handling at all. That being said, I will probably pick up an adjustable track bar the next time I see a good sale going on. Adding track bars at a later time isn't a big deal if you feel you need them.

As of right now, I have no intention of adding adjustable control arms. I got it out on the highway and set the cruise control at 70. I don't think it handles any shittier than it did before I put the lift on.......certainly not bad enough for me to spend another ~$300 on control arms. At least that is until my rear drive shaft decides to got the way of the Dodo because of the increased angle its now running at.

Thats great to know, Thanks and good luck with everything. Yea I am looking to do mine soon and money is an issue I was thinking about trying just like you said and see how it handles. I plan on throwing it on an alignment rack right after and make sure everythin is in spec..

Ahh.....that makes more sense. I didn't realize they offered 3 diffrerent 2.5" budget boosts. After looking at the kit and seeing that it includes rear brake line brackets. I would do the same as I mentioned above......Just install the kit and THEN figure out if you want/need track bars or brackets. Its not like your Jeep will be unusable without them. If you decide you need them, you can still drive your Jeep until you get them ordered.

EDIT: And I wouldn't waste your money on an alignment. The only thing that should be effected is your steering wheel, which you can do yourself in about 15 mins with a little trial and error

Default Good to go

Had the 2.5 rc BB is for about 6 months now with no problems, no trac bar adjustment, works great, only had to recenter the steering wheel and I used the shock extenders as well, rear axle is off about a 1/4 inch and really can't be noticed, good stuff
