Default Largest tire for a 16x8 rim with no lift?

I'm sure its been asked, but I tried searching and oddly couldn't find anything. I probably just didn't use the right term or something. Anyway, I'm about to get some 16x8 Cragar Soft 8s and need to know the largest tire I can run without getting into any rubbing issues. I do not have a lift and don't have any plans on getting one for the time being. I do most of my driving on the road with occasional off road trips but nothing extreme at all and if I need a lift to get down the trail...then I don't take it. I'm scared I'll break something! hahaha Yeah, I'm a wuss. ha Anyway, I would appreciate some input on tire size. Thanks gang!!!!

if you dont plan to off road, you should be good with a 33 (285/75/16).

I will be doing a little off roading. I hunt so during the fall, I'll be going off road a little. Plus the occasional trip just for fun. But again, nothing extreme. Will have have trouble with the 33s rubbing at extreme flex if I get in that situation? If so, is a 268/75/16 the way I need to go? Thanks for the help!

285/75/16 is largest that won't normally rub. 265/75/16 will not rub for sure. 255/85/16 will not rub either but hard to find and limited selection.
