Default Lifted JK bump-steer...how do I fix this??

Here's the deal, I lifted my jeep 5.5", new control arms and the Rock Krawler Drag Link Flip Kit and 37" tires...had it aligned and haven't taken it offroad at all yet. It drives great down the road, nice tight steering....but if I hit a bump going down the road I get a "void" in my steering and then my steering wheel can be cockeyed one way...hit another bump and it can be cockeyed the other. It's kicked on lights and I keep resetting them (Thanks to this forum)...but I can't imagine having to have this thing aligned every hundred miles...what did I do wrong? Where is this void coming from and how do I fix it? I'm running the factory steering stabilizer still.

Thanks!

TD

Can you give us a break down of the rest of the parts in your JK? Did you get our JK Ultimate Steering upgrade with track bar and raised bracket at the axle? If so, that should put your steering geometry spot on... How much caster are you running? Gie us a shout. We can talk Jeep and try to help you out. Sometimes it is easier that way..

Semi-common when flexing offroad or with bent components, but if that was happening while I was driving on-road, it would concern me. Splines on the steering shaft pulling out and re-seating due to the lift height, maybe? Think I would be out there with a jack and stands trying to reproduce in a controlled environment.

I have done alot of reading on here and supposedly if your draglink and track bar are not parallel you get bump steer! did you use a track bar bracket or adjustable? I doubt the flip kit raised it 5.5 inches so chances are they are not parallel with each other. I am definetly not a pro though so this is just a suggestion!

He's not complaining of bump steer. He's saying that a bump causes a slack in his steering wheel which then restate itself off of 12 o'clock.

Bump steer means that bumps would jerk his rig all over the road. Kinda like the way mine drives lol.

yes, but what the OP is describing is not bump steer. bump steer causes a quick side to side jerk of the steering wheel and then it returns to normal. the OP says that he gets a "void" in the steering and the steering wheel stays cocked until he hits another bump.

kinda like the threads that say DW, when after you read the symptoms it is clearly not DW.
