Default My Lift Kit.

Hey all. Im a new Jeeper with an 07 Manual 2-dr. I know everyone asks questions about lifts, and I have gathered some good information from forum hunting. But I wanted my own thread too!

Alright so, I'm looking to lift her up 3" - 4" (4 being max!) and I want the new control arms (I think thats what they are..) that are included in some lift kits. Long arm lift is out of my budget - which is capped at 1,300.
So far I've seen what I think I'm looking for in the skyjacker series and rough country.

Any knowledge to school me with is much appreciated as well as any past experience with products.

Thank you for your time,
Taz

Taz

We are located right outside of albany. Our 3.5" Mid Arm Flex Kit fits your budget and should treat you really well. Here is a link to it.

Both 4WD and Northridge 4x4 carry our products on here. Give them a shout for some good pricing..

If you have any questions, let us know. We are here to help.. Good Luck with your build.

How big of tires do you want to end up with?

Thanks for all of the feedback thus far guys!! I appreciate it.

So you need new driveshafts for the 4" lifts specifically or anything above three?? That will be good to know.

I'm running 33" MUDs right now, but I'll get bigger in time so the larger lift now would work out. Not too sure about needing new drive shafts though, is that a common purchase among people??

Thanks again!

Yes. Youre eventually going to need new driveshafts if you lift that much.

How much exactly? Would a 3 - 3.5 with out the shafts work out? And if possible could you specify on eventually?

Thanks for the detailed info,

Taz

@ludski
I definitely won't be a pavement princess. I want to hit trails and go have a good time off road. Nothing in the rock climbing area yet, I don't think.. I might get extremely excites once i see it in person however.
So if I got a 3 or 3.25 and drove it on the road and some light trails, it'd be alright for a while without upgraded shafts, right?? Or no?

Thanks

There is no set in stone answer, since there are so many variables involved.

Total lift height
Auto or Manual
2door or 4door
Shock length
Axle centering
Usage
And just plain ole Luck

No one can tell you when, or even if, you will have issues with the driveshafts. But with a 2door and 3+ inches, you should be concerned about the joints at the tcase ends of both shafts. Make a habit of crawling underneath and looking for grease spitting out. When they lose enough grease, they will dry out, get noisy, and then seize. It might be a good idea to replace them before that happens...

Good point. I understand a lot better now. Especially things to take into consideration. These joints, will any new one do, or do they make specific sizes and stuff?

Thanks again,
Taz

One last question on this,
If I go with a 2.5 coil spring lift with shocks now, could I always add control arms later??

Thanks for all your time,
Taz
