Default Anyone running the GEAR seat covers?

I have been looking at them for a while, trying to get over the price. If anyone has them, I have a couple of questions:

Are they well made (decent zippers, acceptable fit, fade resistant material, etc)?

It seems like the pictures that Smittybilt puts out on these doesn't really show the area on the front of the covers, down around the bottom, and I think the few pics of this area that I've seen vary. Is there MOLLE webbing there or not? I was trying to figure out a way to put a holster in a reachable place in my jeep, and if there's webbing on the lower front portion of the seat, I could put a MOLLE compatible holster on there.

Thanks,
Jason

I had a set for my TJ. The Tj fronts and Jk fronts are the same. They dont cover the seat very well. They cover kinda like a cross on the seat portion. They do not make rear seat covers for JK yet. The zippers are good, they easily open and close without binding, but not too easily to lose your stuff. As far as stain and fading, they do ok, but with the top off they will fade some as to be expected. They kinda bunch up and need to be adjusted from time to time. The elastic tensioners are easily replaced from a craft store should they snap.

Thanks.

What about webbing on the front? Is it there or not?

I got them as a freebie, however mine only cover the upper seat, they fit like a glove and look great! The material is well made and once again I was VERY surprised how well they fit the upper seat! The black color matches my factory black interior perfectly!

I will post some pics ASAP

I've had mine on the front two seats of my JKU for a year straight with no top. Here"s what I got, I hope it helps:

I've taken them off and washed/dryed them in the clothes dryer with no problem (after removing the pouches, pouches wash too)

They've faded. Which isn't too bad. I was expecting a bit of fade. One of the next times I take them off to wash, I'm going to add some clothes dye to get them back to deep black.

I don't use many of the included pouches. Most of them don't fit my need and seem to fill up too much of the "mock" MOLLE webbing anyway. There are 2 rows of MOLLE on the front part of the seat (between the legs) and on the sides of the seat.

I call it "mock" MOLLE as it doesn't seem to be exact Mil Spec MOLLE webbing dimensions. The MOLLE loops seem a bit off. They work fine for the included Smitty pouches. But, threw on a few other ones (Blackhawk, 5-11, etc.) and all the loops don't line up exactly. Dunno if that's intentional or just poor design specs (Made In China). I've also got a few carabiners scattered on the webbing that work wonders for backpacks, grocery bags, etc. I did manage to thread in a CamelBak for the drivers side when I went camping/wheeling one weekend.

I had to creatively engineer keeping the bottom of the seat portions in place. It's just bungee and plastic hooks to attach. Not usually a big deal. But, I've got a rescue knife MOLLE'd in and when I pulled the knife, the seat cover wanted to come with for about an inch of travel. Not sure how well it'd maintain a holster.

It's a very "universal" fit when it comes to the seat back. Just 3 velcro straps on each side and 3 on top. The 3 on the sides do fine (but can be a bit of a pain working around the B-pillar). The 3 on top req'd a bit of creative engineering as the side two are the wrong angle and the middle one is too long and needs to be folded over to mesh the velcro together. Nothing insurmountable. But, not the prettiest.

The pouches seem decently made. Zippers pull easily and haven't had problems being exposed to the weather. The metal snaps on the back of the MOLLE straps have rusted a lil bit. But, a year completely exposed can do that (and I live near salt water). I just haven't found a use for most of the pouches. I think I use 3 or 4 of them. Most useful being the "drop bag" that works wonders as a trash bag that doesn't allow papers and such to fly out.

I've developed 2 small tears along the seams. One along the back and one on the seat. Mainly I think due to use and the fact that the covers aren't completely contoured. Where the seat has a bit of side-bolstering on the back and seat, the cover doesn't and just stretches across the gap.

They are not complete seat covers. I've checked under the cover where the straps attach and such and I haven't noticed a fade in the leather (yes, my Rubi has leather, sue me). But, I'm not sure how well fabric seats would deal with the fade. Might show fade lines between the seat and the cover.

Overall, not bad for the price or the job they do. I'd wait until one of the 4wheel companies offers the free tailgate kit with purchase of two seat covers before I pulled the trigger (it was the deal when I got mine). If it was mine to design/build, I'd have used proper Mil-Spec webbing dimensions contoured it better to the seat-back and bottom, made it a full cover vice a "1/2 cover" with MOLLE webbing on the sides of the seat-back as well. and used a better means to secure the bottom portion (velcro straps underneath maybe).

Hope that helps.
