Lets see those Racks
I have an 08 JK 4dr Rubi on order. I have been looking for a roof rack for a while. I want to carry skis in the winter, bikes in the summer, and extra gear year round. Currently I have a Yakima LowRider setup on my Lib and will that hardware for use on the Rubi (if needed). The Rubi also has the dual top option so I need something that will work with hard/soft tops.
I have found several units but haven't found much in the way of reviews.
What do people use for carrying this type of gear?
How and where does your rack mount?
What do you like and dislike about the rack?
Was the install easy?
and above all .... Lets see pics of the racks!!!! (remember this is a family show)

Check out Quadratech they have a system that mounts to the tire and also one that uses the tow package and they also have a great roof rack that sits above the softop and mounts at the corners all of which are on the website.

I've got a couple of hitch racks as I do not want to mount anything to the leaky fiberglass roof, or prevent the soft top from being easily dropped.
I have a 4 bike swing-away and pivot-down rack from "something" Knight (I think it's black knight) racks. It was approx. $125 with shipping and has locking cap screws. My only beef with this rack is the locking cap screws are 1/2" shorter than will easily work with my kids bikes. Many kid bikes now use oval tubing for the frame and this doesn't work great on this rack. Since the locking cap screws are square cut threads, I cannot easily locate a longer replacement set. With adult and regular tubing bicycles it's great.
My second rack is a $75 Lund cheapy that I picked up on the spur of the moment at Pep Boys after realized I wasn't going to fit 10 gallons of sh!t in a 5 gallon hat. It works well enough and is sturdy with good tie-down points and clears the spare tire. My only suggestion would be to find one with a swing-away feature. Especially if you plan on getting anything out of the tailgate on a regular basis.
