5.13 gears and 6 Speed
Hi
I have 32 inch wheels and 6 speed transmission with 3.21 gears, a 2.5 inch TF lift, roof rack and front bumper with a wench. The wife says it is a dawg....
So to help out I agreed to regear

I was looking at 4.56 gears. One of the local shops recommended 5.13. This is not a rock climbing jeep.
What are your thoughts on 5.13 vs 4.56 gears on a jeep that will be used for highway, Texas hill country roads and 4wd use in Texas hill country?

Assuming you actually mean 32's (and not 35's?), you might want to plug a few numbers into the chart in the Drivetrain Faq's. That combo will have you up around 3300 rpm at 70, which you might find to be a bit high.

What size tire do you plan on going with? 5.13's are way to low for 32" tires with a 6spd manual. You will be screaming down the road with that. I have a 6spd also and plan on running 37's and had originally purchased 5.13's for that but ended up exchanging them for 4.88's because my Jk is not a rock crawler and spends alot of time on road. Check out the chart in the modified tech FAQ section of the forum. Now I'm sure that chart isn't perfect and there are variables but it will definately give you an idea of the RPM range you will be turning. Looking at the chart...you will be going from about 2K RPM's at 70mph to between 2800-3000K RPM's at 70 mph. That would be like driving on the highway in 4th gear.
When I was getting my gears I posted several threads about it to get opinions and ultimately there is no right or wrong answer. It all depends on your usage and needs. In my opinion if you aren't going bigger than 32's then I wouldn't go any lower than 3.73's or 4.10's. Mine has 3.73'2 and has no problems getting out of its own way, towing a 3500lb trailer and load, and is averaging 19.5 miles to the gallon, on the stock 32" tires. My only motor mod is a Banks cold air intake and cat back exhaust.

I might go to 35's.
thanks

If that is the case then 4.56's should be fine, 4.88 are listed as the performance gear set on the gearing chart, they are actually the 'acceptable' ratio with a 37" tire. I would think that 4.56's would give you acceptable performance and still be good on the highway.
From the chart :
6spd w/ 32" actual height tires, RPM @ 70
5.13 - 3169
4.88 - 3014
4.56 - 2817
4.10 - 2533
3.73 - 2304
3.21 - 1983
(For comparison - a stock Rubi 6spd = 2614)
4.56 (or 4.10?) would be the better choice for that tire size. But personally, I would decide this:
before dropping $1500 on a regear. You don't want to live with 3k+ rpm's if you are staying with 32's, and you don't want to pay 'again' if you do in fact move up to taller tires.

as I am only helping her out
I just put Hankook 35" tires on my 08 4dr Rubicon with automatic tranny. It's got 410 gears, I expected this set-up was going to bog the Jeep down...I was way right! I can't use OD at all and Off road it feels like I have to put it in low range sooner. Question is, should I get a electronic tuner, or 513. gears? I'm going with gears, who knows, someday I might want 37" tires. Anybody want to buy my 410's?
I do like the tires, the Jeep is kind of light for the 10 ply rateing, but I like the side wall strenth because, here in the east we have wet rocks.
