Thinking of Bedlining my rims
I've been looking at posts on here - I'd love to see a silver 2dr with bedlined stock rims.
My rims are pretty worn looking.
Also, any tips on procedure for bedlining and time involved?
I am hoping to take a nice weekend and do the following:
1) Jack up & remove one wheel.
2) Scrub the rim front and back
3) Tape up the rubber
4) Lightly sand the rims
5) Clean once more
6) spray keeping the can about 6 inches from the rim in light passes
7) repeat
I'm just trying to set my expectations - length of time, number of coats, number of cans to purchase, etc. I have never bedlined anything before.

I'll post some pics tomorrow (its not a 2 dr but it is silver though), I just did mine and it changed the look of the jeep
First I used a wheel cleaner
then clean the wheels using a 3M (scotch-brite) heavy duty pads
then wait for them to dry (or u can use a damp cloth or something similar)
then spray each wheel with rust-o-leum bedliner
and used a can of Rust-o-leum high heat black paint for the back of the wheels and lug nuts (for the lug nuts you may want to apply 2 or 3 coats)
I used 3 cans for 5 wheels, grill, tail guards & Fuel door. (2 coats on everything) Estimated time I will say about 4 hours try to do it early morning and on a sunny day, so u can leave them drying all day long.
(you don't have to tape the edge of the tires, here are some pics I will post some more tomorrow)
I tested first on this Damaged Wheel (give u an idea of how sahara wheels look)

You don't have to tape the edge of the tires at all?
I'm leaning toward the completely black or "murdered" look on them (partially due to the rust). I've also considered leaving an edge but laziness and amateur abilities may overrule.
Right now I have no tools for the job - only the jack that came with the Jeep. I am thinking of getting a canister jack and a pair of jack stands and maybe a better lug wrench to make it a little less painful to take 'em all off.
I notice some threads discussing covering holes and whatnot but I'm not sure why. Also, why go black paint vs bedliner for the inside/lugs?
Thanks

Here is what I did:
1. Deflated to about 15psi
2. Marked weights with chalk
3. Used weight removal tool to pop of weights
4. "fine" wire wheel to scuff wheels, have at least two batteries for the cordless
5. Inserted playing cards between wheel and tire to catch overspray, (worked great)
6. Thorough wash and dry
7. 5 coats of Duplicolor bed liner, allow plenty of dry time between coats
8. 2 coats of clear flat enamel to seal everything up
9. re-apply wheel weights using rubber mallet
10. Install on the Rubi and drive all around to show off the new look!
OH DON'T FORGET THE SUNBLOCK!! THIS SHOULD BE STEP 1
Here are the pics, more located in my album!
