Hit those faqs up they will help immensely. Only need a carrier if you have stock 3.21s and shafts trusses gussets etc are all optional upgrades.

What size tires???

Your best bet is to find a shop to do the work for you. This is a pretty technical job and you have to really know what you're doing to pull it off. There's also a few special tools/instruments you'd need. So I'd recommend finding a local shop that does a lot of gear swaps and has a good reputation.

Also, there are lots of shops that won't let you bring in your own gears for them to install. Certain shops only work with certain brands. Some won't even do the install if you bring in gears that are the same brand they install. So hold off on buying anything until you talk to the guys at the shop.

What gears do you have now? IIRC, if they're 3.21s, then you'll need a bigger carrier.

With automatics, 5.13s is what most go with, but they're usually running 35s+. Not sure what you're running, or plan to run in the next year or two. Regearing isn't cheap, so def plan ahead so you won't be in a bad spot because what you regeared to now isn't enough for possibly bigger tires down the road.

My auto Rubi came with 4.10s. I've been running 35s on them for the last 6 months. With Superchips, it was OK. Just regeared to 5.13s. It's so much nicer.

You have an Auto, don't waste your money on 4.10's.

If you have 3.21's currently, you will need a new carrier for the front d30. Should be under $100. Your rear 44 carrier will be re-used.

You should consider overhaul kits instead of install kits. Even with low miles on the axles, new bearings are a good thing.

At the ends of your front axle, just behind the tire/rim, you will see a big chunk of metal that looks like a 'C'. They are fairly weak and prone to bending, so consider buying some C Gussets and having them welded to those C's.

Sleeves are used to strengthen the axle housing and hopefully keep it from bending/shattering. Inner sleeves are tubes that slide inside both ends of the housing and get welded in place, and then the axle shafts are re-inserted. Outer sleeves are welded to the outside of the housing.
There is another big thread that Wol started on why you might want sleeves, but this one has a good pic that shows a broken housing so you can see what we're talking about.

Yeah got the d30/44 and 3:21 gears. I am looking at getting either 34-35 tires in the next year. Have an auto. I love do the wrenching on the jeep but this is just one of those that I'd let a shop do it. Also thank for the heads up in shops ordering Thierry own found that out today. Never expected that!! 5:13 just seem like a lot to me as in a big jump. But I have never been in a heavily moded jeep so I dont really know the difference.

JK's have a different engine, and different transmission gearing.

Spend a few minutes plugging numbers into the charts in the drivetrain faq's. With an Auto and anything over a stock tire size, 5.13 is a good ratio. (I am happy with my 5.38's and 33.5" actual height tires.)

While you're at it, check the rpm's for a bone stock Manual Rubi. You will see that they have higher freeway rpm's right out of the factory than you will with 5.13's and 35's
