Default My unlimited was toooooo long for the rock crawling competition (Video)

This is me NOT winning the spring crawl at Kansas Rocks ORV park. I was in the Stock class, but I was definitely the most stock. All the other contestants were in TJs, CJs, and Samurais. This is the 3rd course in the competition and I did pretty well until the easy little dirt hill stopped me cold. Some didn't even make it to the dirt hill and had to be towed out, so I was happy to put in a good showing for a near stock unlimited. Several guys were impressed with the traction control. I was the only one entered without lockers. Joel, my spotter, was about worn out.

That sucks man, the course must have been set up by a guy with a TJ who was jealous. I love my 2 door, which probably would have been fine going over that, but there are so many times when a 4 door will make going over stuff so much easier.

Wow. Just a tiny bit more height and you would have aced that course without any lockers. I can see where lockers would be a benefit here but you still did the JKU crowd proud.

Goes to show that a good spotter and a good driver are better than having the fancy equipment (I have a Rubi with some modest mods but would have failed that course near the begiining..LOL!!)

I hate to tell you this and I know I will be flamed so forgive me, but you are crazy taking your new, DD, Unlimited over and through that kinda stuff. I see that type of competition akin to crash and smash derbies and dirt track stockers. It destroys vehicles, that is why the people who are serious at it design and build SPECIAL purpose made, EXPENDABLE, trucks (Jeeps etc) for these types of competition. Just me I guess. I off road my Jeep, we explore for old mining towns, rock collecting, back country access for hiking and occasionally the trails get pretty demanding but nothing like a course designed to destroy vehicles. Good luck.

I don't think a 4" lift would have helped. Even the lifted TJs were rubbing on it.

I have owned many jeeps with lockers, and I don't think they are necessary on a JK. If you have the money they are nice, but the traction control is more than sufficient in all situations I have been in.
