Default Lets talk about lockers. What's right for me?

Hey guys, I'm going to 37's in a week or two. I've been on 35's for a while now with factory gearing, but this jump is going to make a regear nesesary. I've got 4.88 gears sitting in my den right now. Imo that's the smallest pinion I can run in a 30 safely.

Now since my diffs will be opened I might as well do some lockers right? I'm thinking of saving some cash and adding just a cheap aussie locker in the front since it will be swapped out for a 60 when it breaks. Would the shafts on a 30 be too weak for an aussie?

Id like a selectable in the rear since ill be keeping it as long as possible. Ill be on 40's+ in 2 years or so, so electric or arb? What's the pros and cons?

Is there an issue running a full time locker up front and selectable in the rear?

Thanks guys!

With 37s and dana 30 I would keep front open. For rear get the arb. That's what I got and love it.

I am planning on leaving my D30 open, I like my detroit in the rear. How much snow do you guys get up there? Problem with the aussie might be you get in some thick snow and need 4wd, that aussie is going to make your jeep hard to control.

This year we got about 13 ft in 3 months. I don't know anything about diving with a front locker. Never had one before.

Yeah, thats a ton of snow lol. I don't speak from experience with a front lunch box, but with it locked in 4wd, whenever you turn the locker will engage and I could only imagine how much worse that would make driving in the snow. Just something to keep in mind, hopefully someone with experience in the snow with a lunchbox in the front will chime in.

the front lunchbox will only be engaged when in 4WD so a DD wont really see any effects other than the locker ratcheting on turns. Most people rave about the front lunchbox offroad, its the guys in the snow that have to worry about them.
